St Peter's Hospice Christmas tree collection returns in January 🎄

The popular Christmas tree collection service run by local charity St Peter’s Hospice will return for another year this festive season.

The hassle-free service offers people a convenient and sustainable way to dispose of their real Christmas trees, while raising vital funds for Bristol’s only adult hospice.

Working together with local business Arthur David and a team of hard-working volunteers, the recycling scheme will run from 10-12 January 2025 covering Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

Sophie Cullinane, Community Fundraising Manager at St Peter’s Hospice, said “We’re so excited to be working with fantastic local food wholesaler Arthur David again this year to collect and recycle Christmas trees.

“We raised an incredible £24,000 from last year’s collection, and we’re aiming to raise even more this year, but we need the support of residents across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire to make this happen.

“By making a donation, you can help support patients and their families when they need it most and prevent your old Christmas tree from going to waste. It’s a really easy way to make a difference to your community and the environment.”

A donation of £20-25 is suggested per tree, and it will be collected from your doorstep. Every penny donated will help support patients and their families as they deal with serious illness and bereavement.

A £20 donation could help to fund a Nurse’s time answering calls on the 24-hour Advice Line, where family members of people experiencing an incurable illness can receive expert support from the skilled team of Nurses at

the Hospice on anything from symptom management to grief counselling.

To get involved, simply sign up online, leave your Christmas tree outside your home on 10 January and St Peter’s Hospice will handle the rest. Once all the trees are collected, they’ll be recycled into wood chips for use locally, including in the Hospice gardens at Brentry, at local allotments and even at Noah’s Ark Zoo in the animal enclosures.
