Safety specialists to supply fleet operators
Safety specialists FHOSS Illuminated Systems, based in Weston-super-Mare, has been appointed as approved suppliers to members of the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
The accreditation gives operators of lorry and van fleets discounted and greater access to the quality safety solutions designed by FHOSS that help improve visibility, reduce accidents and enhance safety on the roads.
FORS is a voluntary accreditation scheme that helps businesses improve operator safety, fuel efficiency and vehicle emissions.
One of the first businesses to link up with FHOSS through the accreditation is Speedy Asset Services, the UK’s largest tool hire business.
Group Fleet Compliance Manager, Gareth Jones, said: “We’re a FORS Accredited Operator with a track record for going above and beyond when it comes to safety. We’ve been FORS accredited since 2009 and hold Gold status across our entire fleet of HGVs and LCVs.
“Safety is one of our core values and is integral to everything we do. Drivers make up 50 per cent of our workforce and the company strives to protect them in every way possible. But our drivers share the roads with a variety of vulnerable road users, so it is important that we educate and protect them too.
“Technology is having a major impact on how we do that and we’re not afraid to push the boat out by trialling new technologies. Two of our newest and most significant technology solutions are our high-definition, AI-based camera systems and a new FHOSS Cycle Lane.”
The FHOSS Cycle Lane Early Warning System uses illuminated lines to draw out an exclusion zone around HGVs when turning left, warning cyclists and other vulnerable road users not to attempt to pass, keeping pedestrians safe from severe injury and death, with simple visual communication that works in all low light conditions.
Andrew Kimitri, CEO of FHOSS, said: “Being a part of the FORS Approved Suppliers list is a significant milestone for us, and we look forward to working with fleet operators to help them meet the high standards of safety that they strive to achieve.
“Thank you to the FORS team for recognising our commitment to safety! Let’s continue to work together to make our roads safer for everyone.”
