Mama Bear's celebrates festival of lights

Pre-schoolers at Mama Bear’s day nursery in Crews Hole, Bristol, have been learning to make Rangoli good-luck decorations for Diwali, the annual festival of light.  


The five-day festival which this year begins on Monday 24 October - is celebrated by millions of Hindhus, Sikhs and Jains across the world, and for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations. It is  

Nursery manager, Stacey Bragg, said: “Finding out about the festival of light really fired up the imaginations of our pre-schoolers. We looked at different Rangoli patterns during circle time, then they had fun creating their own Rangoli patterns. 

“Learning that Diwali is about new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness very much appealed to our little super-heroes.” 

Crew’s Hole is one of 24 day nurseries in the family-run Mama Bear’s group. Known for its affordable and flexible childcare provision, Mama Bear’s aims to provide children with their first vital level of education to give them a head-start when they start at primary school.
