Dressing Strawberry Field to tickle the tastebuds

Dressing Strawberry Field to tickle the tastebuds

The opening of the showhome on the new Strawberry Field development in the village of Hempsted, near Gloucester, is intriguing local people with an interest in how you can reflect your personality when you decorate your home, according to interior designer Elaine Deeks.

Elaine, 48, whose background includes art college in London, a degree in textile design from Nottingham Uni, and over 20 years in the business of interior design, now runs her own business – A Box of Tricks - which promotes a highly individualised approach to putting together the plan for home interiors.

The brief for the Strawberry Field, the latest development by award-winning home-builder Redcliffe Homes, was to achieve a signature look with a warm, cosy feel, featuring classic style with modern highlights for their four-bedroom Ashbury showhome.

Elaine said: “This was an exciting project for me.

“The living room of the showhome, for example, is a big room and it gave me plenty of opportunity to exercise my imagination and come up with a design which – hopefully – will appeal to a range of visitors, whatever stage of life they are at.

“We started off with a statement wall in a stunning shade of dark teal, which is quite dramatic.

“Otherwise the colour scheme is fairly neutral: muted tones with accents from a strong rich palette in teal and rust which create ‘pops’ of interest while still combining to produce the warm and cosy feeling we wanted to achieve.

“Covid has created a few problems for interior designers in terms of being able to source some of the items we might want to use, so I was delighted when I managed to find a number of what I think are perfect pieces for the living room.

“These include some beautiful painted wood accessories, plus items in bronze and black iron.

“To me the finished living room definitely oozes an overall feeling of indulgent relaxation and I’m thrilled to hear positive feedback from visitors now the showhome is open.”
