New Bridgwater nursery due to open after lockdown

A new day nursery in Bridgwater has announced an official opening date following delays due to the coronavirus crisis.

The anticipated Mama Bear’s Day Nursery and Pre-School was due to open its doors at The Exchange, Express Park in April but plans were put on hold when the country went into lockdown. The setting will now open to families on Monday 17 August.

Parents interested in childcare at the setting can now take a virtual tour or arrange a socially distanced tour to look around the facilities.

When opened, the nursery will adhere to the Mama Bear’s Covid-19 policy in order to keep children and staff safe. All staff have had additional training on the new procedures and parents will receive details of the policy.

Tony Driffield, who owns the nursery group with wife Bev, said: “We are delighted to have an opening date for our Bridgwater setting, it has been ready and waiting for months so we’re really pleased to be opening our doors and offering local families some much-needed childcare.

“The facilities here are state-of-the-art and we’ve worked really hard to get a fantastic, enthusiastic and qualified team together to run the setting.

“It’s been a tough time for everyone over the past few months, particularly those with small children at home and working parents, so we’re hoping our offering will bring some relief!”

The nursery has spaces available for children aged three-months to five-years, although some of those age groups are filling up quickly.

There are age-specific rooms for babies, 2-3 year olds and pre-school children as well as important outside space, which children are encouraged to explore every day.

The nursery is filled with the latest educational resources with a dedicated role play area, cosy book snug, dressing up corner and plenty of loose parts play resources to encourage creativity.

Mama Bear’s will provide a Flexi-Care model of childcare aimed at helping parents who work shifts or as freelancers arrange childcare to suit their ever-changing schedules.

Tony continued: “It’s a lovely nursery which has been recently refurbished and is in a great location. This combined with our flexible model of booking means we’re well placed to provide affordable, convenient and high-quality childcare.”

The premises are conveniently located just off the A38 Bristol Road, easily accessible for families living to the North of Bridgwater. The nursery is in close proximity to the Avon and Somerset Police Centre, the Morrisons RDC and many other local businesses.

Mama Bear’s provides a nurturing, home-from-home environment. The family-run nursery group has 23 other settings across the South West and offers high-quality early years education to prepare children for the big step up to primary school.

Prospective families interested in looking around can arrange a tour now.
