Bridgwater's new Day Nursery opens its doors

A new day nursery has opened its doors to children for the first time in Bridgwater.

Following a delay due to the coronavirus lockdown Mama Bear’s Day Nursery and Pre-School has now opened at The Exchange, Express Park, and will cater for children aged three-months to five-years.

The opening week was marked with a special visit from Mama Bear herself who turned up to greet the first children registered at the setting.

The nursery, which is the 24th in the South West-based Mama Bear’s group, has been fitted out with all new resources and facilities. Demand for the new setting with its flexi-care booking system has been high but there are limited spaces still available for all age groups for the September term.

Tony Driffield, who owns the nursery group with wife Bev, said: “We are absolutely delighted to open our Bridgwater nursery after a slightly delayed start and begin providing some much-needed childcare to local families.

“From the state-of-the-art facilities and educational resources to the lovely, experienced team we have put in place here, we think parents will be really impressed with the nursery and children will thoroughly enjoy coming here.

“This is our 24th nursery in Somerset, Devon and Bristol and it is a huge accomplishment for us, particularly in these challenging and uncertain times. I’m so proud of what we have created with our model of home-from-home, affordable, early-education settings.”

There are age-specific rooms for babies, 2-3 year olds and pre-school children as well as important outside space, which children are encouraged to explore every day.

The nursery is filled with the latest educational resources with a dedicated role play area, cosy book snug, dressing up corner and plenty of loose parts play resources to encourage creativity. Mama Bear’s prides itself on preparing children for the big step up to primary school.

Mama Bear’s will provide a Flexi-Care model of childcare aimed at helping parents who are freelancers or work shifts arrange childcare to suit their ever-changing schedules.

Tony continued: “It’s a lovely nursery which has been recently refurbished and is in a great location. This combined with our flexible model of booking means we’re well placed to provide affordable, convenient and high-quality childcare.”

The nursery will adhere to the Mama Bear’s Covid-19 policy in order to keep children and staff safe. All staff have had additional training on the new procedures and parents will receive details of the policy.

The premises are conveniently located just off the A38 Bristol Road, easily accessible for families living to the North of Bridgwater. The nursery is in close proximity to the Avon and Somerset Police Centre, the Morrisons RDC and many other local businesses.

Parents interested in childcare at the setting can now take a virtual tour or arrange a socially distanced tour to look around the facilities.
