Exciting new Cambodia challenge launched by St Peter's Hospice for fundraising adventurers

Bristol charity St Peter’s Hospice has launched a brand new fundraising initiative which will see participants trek through rural Cambodia.

Described as a ‘trip of a lifetime’ this incredible adventure takes in one of Southeast Asia’s most captivating countries and will raise vital funds for Bristol’s only adult hospice.

The five-day trek is due to take place in March 2026 with fundraisers journeying to Angkor Wat, and exploring the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire, rural valleys, dense forests and the upper plains of the Kulen Mountain.

Hayley Ali, Events Fundraising Manager at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “Anyone looking for an exciting new challenge, this one is for you! Our intrepid explorers will trek through majestic valleys, experience local life in Cambodia and discover ancient sites and beautiful landscapes. The journey will conclude at Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most impressive spots in this part of the world.

“The trek will be a hugely exciting, unforgettable experience but will also raise vital funds, through fundraising, which will help support families and patients when they need it most.

“Extreme challenges like this one have become more and more popular in recent years and we’re really pleased to be able to offer it to our supporters who want to try something different.”

Nick took part in the St Peter’s Hospice Himalayan Trek in 2022. He said: “I signed up a year before when I realised the trek dates fell on a significant birthday. Ten months of street collections, sweepstakes and JustGiving pages later, I was halfway around the world with a team of Bristolians, slapping on suncream one day and balancing on logs across rivers the next! It was so touching to hear each other’s stories and learn why we were choosing to support the Hospice – and with a combined fundraising total of £58k, we certainly did that. I would do anything to go back!”

The challenge will take place from 7-15 March 2026. It costs £299 to register (followed by £150 to be paid eight weeks before the challenge), and all participants will need to raise a minimum of £3,800 to support the work of St Peter’s Hospice.

There are several flexible fundraising options available to suit everyone, including self-funding all or part of the trip to lower the fundraising target.

Hayley Ali continued: “Funds raised will go towards supporting the work of St Peter’s Hospice in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Every step trekked will help the Hospice continue to provide its vital support to patients and their families.

“By stepping outside of your comfort zone and into Cambodia’s awe-inspiring landscapes, you will play a role in helping the people we care for.

“There are only limited spaces available and we expect them all to be filled so if you are interested please get in touch soon.”

All care at St Peter’s Hospice is provided free of charge but the charity relies on gifts in wills, donations, fundraising and money raised through its retail shops to deliver its services.
