St Peter's Hospice promotes sustainable fashion with September shopping events

Bristol charity St Peter’s Hospice has launched its ‘Sustainable September’ campaign which includes two exciting shopping events designed to provide an alternative to the fast fashion trend.

Promoting sustainable fashion, the first event is a kilo sale at the charity’s retail warehouse where savvy shoppers will be able to bag a kilo of pre-loved items for just £10.

Taking place on Saturday 7 September in Avonmouth, the kilo sale is a way to make charity shopping easier and more accessible, while raising vital funds for patient care at Bristol’s only adult hospice.

Also planned for Sustainable September is an evening shopping event at the charity’s Superstore in Clifton. The store will be open late from 5-7pm on Thursday 19 September and guests can discover high quality clothing and shoes from top brands, affordable furniture, home accessories and more, with plenty of time to browse.

Although aimed at students, who will receive 20% off with a student card, the event is open to all.

Retail Director at St Peter’s Hospice, John Broomhead, said: “Our Sustainable September campaign is all about style that doesn’t cost the Earth, and making shopping fun and accessible.

“Our shops are in local communities, on your doorstep, and we’re encouraging people to help the planet while also supporting patient care at our Hospice.

“The kilo sale is a really popular event as people can get their hands on some real gems from vintage clothing to high-end designer pieces. A whole kilo bag costs only £10 so it’s the perfect way to reinvent your wardrobe at a really affordable price.

“The evening shopping event at our Clifton Superstore is another great opportunity to find incredible items at a fraction of the original price. By opening our doors outside of our usual times, we hope that people will take their time to slow down and shop mindfully!

“Events like this are only made possible by the generous donations of pre-loved clothes and items we receive from our supporters. It’s great that donations soon become someone else’s new favourites, instead of going to landfill or gathering dust in wardrobes.”

As Bristol’s largest charity retailer, St Peter’s Hospice runs 44 charity shops across the city. Funds raised by the shops go towards helping to support patients and their families at the Hospice and in the community.
