Walk to remember your loved ones this October

Bristol charity St Peter’s Hospice is holding its annual event ‘Walk to Remember’ once again this October.

Giving participants the chance to remember someone special and raise vital funds for the Hospice, the event will take place on Sunday 6 October at Ashton Court Estate.

Organisers say this meaningful 5km sponsored walk is suitable for all ages and are encouraging groups of friends and family to sign up together and enjoy some fresh Autumn air.

Molly O’Donoghue, Events Fundraising Manager at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “Now in its 15th year, the Walk to Remember is a very special event in our fundraising calendar. I think part of its appeal is that it’s suitable for all ages, and dogs are welcome too. We often have groups get together and use it as a way to really honour the memory of someone special in their lives. People walk to remember those they won’t forget.

“The picturesque route will take you through the woods and past the deer parks. You can take in the city from a beautiful viewpoint, before returning alongside the iconic yellow mansion house. At the end of the route participants can hang a message, photo or memory on our special memory trees.

“As with all of our fundraising events, money raised through the Walk to Remember goes towards providing Hospice care and services at our Inpatient Unit and out in the community.

“Every step taken and every penny raised through sponsorship makes all the difference to those dealing with life-limiting illnesses.”

St Peter’s Hospice is a local charity caring for adults with incurable illnesses in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset areas. Care is extended to family members, loved ones and carers, offering bereavement therapy and supportive drop in sessions. As a charity, St Peter’s Hospice relies heavily on donations and community fundraising to provide its vital services.

The entry fee covers the cost of holding the event so money raised through sponsorship will help cover the cost of care. For more information and to sign up visit https://www.stpetershospice.org/support-us/join-our-events/walk-to-remember/
