Award-winning young film-maker joins Bristol PR agency as a videographer
A talented young film-maker from Bristol whose highly-acclaimed short films have made it on to the international film circuit and won two prestigious awards, has joined PR and communications agency Empica as a videographer.
Grace Fox, who lives in Long Ashton, graduated from University Centre Weston with a first class honours degree in Lens Based Media and a raft of short films under her belt, which she directed, wrote and produced.
Three of these short films feature Poldark and Doc Martin actor Rory Wilton in the lead roles and can be viewed here.
Grace explained: “It was incredible really. After watching an episode of Doc Martin and seeing Rory Wilton in the role of Chippy Miller, I said to my mum: ‘That’s it. That’s my fisherman!’ I started following Rory on twitter and as soon as he followed me back I contacted him to ask him whether he would consider ‘Serpentine,’ the short film I was working on, which was all about a Cornish fisherman with a fear of the sea. I was blown away when he replied to say yes!”
Not only did Rory Wilton and his real life partner Emma Spurgin Hussey, who is also an actor, star in Grace’s film ‘Serpentine’, they went on to star in two more films directed, written and produced by Grace. The second film ‘The Other Side’ and third film ‘Among Us’ won awards for Best Cinematography and Best Writing respectively, at the Monkey Bread Tree Film Awards 2019 - an IMDb event. She is currently working on ‘Empty Spaces,’ her fourth film starring Rory Wilton; filming is due to start in March.
Grace has joined Empica’s digital communications team as an in-house videographer. Commenting on her appointment, Grace said: “I was over the moon to land this role at Empica which allows me to combine my passion for film-making with a job that will enable me to expand my skills and experience by working on videos for businesses from a wide range of sectors.
“The work at Empica is very varied, working alongside our PR and communications teams to bring our clients’ stories to life in new and exciting ways. In the few weeks since I’ve been on board, I’ve been involved in script writing, filming and editing for a large utilities company, a London-based charity and a coach company looking to promote its forthcoming trip to Belgium to visit the First World War battlefields and cemeteries.”
In her spare time, Grace has made several videos including one to promote a holiday cottages business and a care home looking to raise money for a Cross Generational Project involving elderly residents and primary school children. Her short mockumentary and her first-ever film, about the Bristol Hum, has attracted 1.9 million views on YouTube.
Empica is one of Bristol’s longest-established and best known PR and communications agencies supporting businesses to build their reputations, differentiate their services and engage more effectively with their clients and customers.
