March to the match and raise funds for St Peter's Hospice

St Peter’s Hospice’ popular Rugby March event is back as the charity teams up with Bristol Bears for another exciting day of fundraising.

Saturday 22 March will see hundreds of participants embark on a 5k or 10k walk, taking in some of Bristol’s most iconic sights and landmarks. The charity walkers will then end up at Ashton Gate Stadium in time to take their seats for the Bristol Bears v Exeter Chiefs match.

With over 500 people taking part in last year’s event, the Rugby March is expected to draw the crowds once again to raise vital funds for Bristol’s only adult hospice.

Hayley Ali, Events Fundraising Manager at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Bristol Bears again for a 2025 Rugby March. This is a really fun day out with a charity walk to suit all abilities, followed by a visit to Ashton Gate to soak up the amazing match-day atmosphere and watch a great game of rugby.

“The 5k route is accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs and takes in views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Ashton Court Estate.

“The 10k route includes a walk under and across the Bridge and across to the Clifton Observatory before heading back through Ashton Court Estate to Ashton Gate.

“There’s something for everyone and we’re looking forward to welcoming families and groups of friends to join in with the event. There’s always a great sense of camaraderie and to end the day cheering on the Bears is the icing on the cake!”

Bristol Bears’ Chief Operating Officer, Tom Tainton, said: “We’re proud to be continuing our partnership with the St Peter’s Hospice Rugby March – an event we have supported at Ashton Gate for more than five years now.

“Our vision is to inspire our community through rugby, so using one of our matchdays to support the incredible work of St Peter’s Hospice is a privilege.”

There are adult and child tickets available which include entry to the walk and the rugby match, or people can opt to just take part in the walk.

Funds raised go towards supporting the work of St Peter’s Hospice in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

All care at St Peter’s Hospice is provided free of charge but the charity relies on gifts in wills, donations, fundraising and money raised through its retail shops to deliver its services.
