Love is in the air at Taunton Care Home
Residents and their partners have been treated to a special Valentine’s dining experience at Taunton dementia care home The Rectory, thanks to a loving initiative dreamed up by their care team.
Manager Abbie Foster said: “It is not unusual for ill-health in later years to mean couples who have had a long and loving relationship are no longer able to live together, and occasions like Valentine’s Day can be really hard for them.
“Advancing age doesn’t mean romantic feelings are any less – in fact, for some couples who have been with the person they view as their soulmate for maybe half a century, their love seems to be stronger than ever, and it’s a real joy for us to help them celebrate that.
“So we decorated our dining room with flowers and candles, and our cooks prepared a menu featuring our most popular dishes, all beautifully presented.
“Our loving couples were so happy to have this opportunity to enjoy each other’s company on this most romantic of days, and we were all really happy to make it possible.”
The Rectory is run by White Care Group which also runs St Benedict’s Nursing Home in Glastonbury and St Cecilia Care Home in Shepton Mallet.
