Clarke Willmott announces raft of promotions

A total of nine lawyers have been promoted to partner at the firm including Laura Mackain-Bremner, Damian Pitts, Cathy Harris, Louise Goodwin, David Stedman, Jacqui Lazare, Jamie Swan, Laura Robbetts and Tom Potts.

These promotions come after the lawyers demonstrated the ability to run complex, heavyweight matters as well as supervise their own and juniors’ files.

Making the switch from associate to senior associate are 12 lawyers specialising in a range of disciplines. The new senior associates are Mel Smith, Irene Richardson, Charlotte Lord, James Marshall, Lara Saunders, Kayleigh Cullis, Emma Ironside, Vanessa Harris, Emma Barry, Harriet Neusinger, Carly Blunn and Sophie Bedwell.

As well as demonstrating a strong financial track record these lawyers are required to become a go-to adviser for clients and will take on additional responsibility with the role.

Promotion to associate requires strong technical legal competence and a strong contribution to financial measures, as well as stepping up beyond the solicitor level to take on greater responsibility in a range of areas.

The lawyers taking on this transition are Christie Johnson, Alex Jones, Rachel Tonkinson, Ben Tasker, Henry Russell, Kelly Rowley, James Dunster, Emily Hope.

New CEO of Clarke Willmott, Peter Swinburn, said: “I’m pleased to announce this year’s internal promotions. As always, this is an opportunity to recognise the strength of talent and diversity we have across the firm. It’s a pleasure to see how those being promoted have already stepped up in readiness for their new roles.

“Our people sit at the centre of our success and the excellent client service we offer. Ensuring their development is fundamental and part of creating a great people experience. The people we promote have all shown the skills, talent and aptitude vital for us to take advantage of future opportunities.”

Daniel Jones, Clarke Willmott’s director of human resources, said: “I am delighted that of the 29 lawyers promoted 20 are women. It demonstrates our commitment to building an inclusive and equitable environment where everyone can reach their full potential.”
