A weekend of non-stop racing action at Castle Combe

A weekend of non-stop racing action at Castle Combe

Castle Combe Circuit’s third car race meeting of the year – the Summer Spectacular – will be hosted over the weekend of 10th and 11th June for a thrilling set of races.

For the first time this season, the Castle Combe Racing Club (CCRC) will be hosting its races over an entire weekend instead of one day, making it even more exciting for visitors and more value for money!

The Summer Spectacular will include a variety of racing, that’ll keep everyone entertained. For Saloon car lovers, the programme includes the popular Castle Combe Racing Club (CCRC) Hot Hatch Series, the Kumho BMW Championship, Classic Touring Car Racing and CCRC’s own Saloon Car Championship. Sports car enthusiasts will have, amongst others, Sports 2000 and Z Cars, to look forward to, while single seater fans will have the thrills and spills of the CCRC FF1600 in open-wheeled action.

This weekend will also launch the first Rodger Card Memorial Race for rounds five and six of the 2023 BMW Racing Drivers Club Championship on the first day of the race weekend. Rodger was a well-respected BMW racer, who, with his son James, raced in the championship from the early 2000’s until his death in 2015. James continues to race in this championship and has been overall champion on two occasions.

The championship runs with clearly defined classes using various Kumho mandated tyres. At this race weekend, the ‘Invitation Class’ will be open to virtually any BMW at the discretion of the BMW Racing Drivers Club with a free choice of tyres, gearboxes and more. A minimum prize fund of £1,000 spread throughout the classes will be up for grabs, along with the usual trophies.

CCRC Racing Club Manager, Cat Dall’Occo, offered some planning and viewing advice for those looking to attend: “Some categories have more than one race over the weekend, while others are Saturday or Sunday only, so it is worth checking on your preferred cars to be sure not to miss their race. Of course, you could simply buy a weekend pass and then you can make sure you see everything – and for only £5 more than a single day for that extra day’s action, they represent excellent value.”

Saturday’s race schedule will have the CCRC FF1600 Championship, BMW Racing Drivers Club Kumho BMW Championship Rodger Card Memorial Races, SRCC Sports 2000 Duratec Championship, SRCC Sports 2000 Historic Championship and Classic Touring Car Racing Club 4 Championship races.

For Sunday, there will be the CCRC Saloon Car Championship, CCRC Hot Hatch Series, MG Owners Club, SRCC Sports 2000 Duratec Championship, SRCC Sports 2000 Historic Championship, Classic Touring Car Racing Club 4 Championship races and Z Cars & Production GTi Championship.

Gates will open to the public at 8am on both days and racing will finish at 5pm.

Tickets can be bought until 5th June for the advanced price – Saturday £20, Sunday £25 and weekend £30 – here:  https://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/shows/summer-spectacular-race-weekend/10/06/2023

Saturday night camping is also available to book online, with a single pitch being £10 https://castlecombecircuit.co.uk/shows/summer-spectacular-race-weekend/10/06/2023

Tickets will also be available on the day at the venue, and will be £25 for Saturday, £30 for Sunday and £35 for the weekend. Children aged 16 and under go free. Printed race day programmes will also be available on the day for £4, the CCRC also has a grid guide, so hard core fans can keep an entire year of results in one booklet, which will cost them £1.
