Orbit reappoints Clarke Willmott to legal framework

National law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has been reappointed onto the legal framework for Orbit, one of the UK’s largest providers of affordable housing.

The firm will be assisting Orbit with legal issues including tenancy services, construction and development, property asset management, finance/treasury, human resources, employment, governance and corporate.

The high value reappointment is for five years, with an option to extend for an additional year.

“Having worked with Orbit since 2019, we are delighted to continue to support such a dynamic-thinking organisation,” said Kary Withers, client partner for Orbit and managing director of Clarke Willmott’s property services division.

“Orbit is one of the UK’s leading affordable housing providers and combines a focused commercial outlook with a clear social purpose: ensuring safety and quality standards are met, adapting to new legislation and increasing engagement with its customers.”

Orbit manages around 46,500 affordable homes in in the Midlands, East and the South East of England and builds over 1,000 new affordable homes every year.

Kary Withers added: “The reappointment builds on Clarke Willmott’s level of expertise and strong reputation in the social housing sector; we are proud to play our part in ensuring Orbit achieves the best outcomes in the future and remains dynamic and performance-focused.”

Clarke Willmott was initially appointed onto Orbit’s legal framework in January 2019. Earlier this year the solicitors acted on a deal which saw the transfer of 191 shared ownership homes from Orbit Group to Residential Secure Income plc (ReSI).

The firm’s specialist social housing team is one of the largest in the UK, acting for over 100 registered providers as well as major frameworks including HALA, CHIC, SEC and ASW.

Clarke Willmott has South West offices in Bristol, Cardiff and Taunton.
