Smith & Williamson sponsors Suspension Bridge illumination
Smith & Williamson, which is part of leading wealth management and professional services firm Tilney Smith & Williamson, will be among the organisations to have its name in lights on the Clifton Suspension Bridge later this year.
Thanks to a Crowdfunding campaign launched in support of the #SupportOurMuseums campaign, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s iconic bridge will be lit up in blue for one night this autumn.
The Light The Night celebration will help to mark the city’s emergence from the Covid-19 pandemic and is likely to take place in late October.
“Illuminations have always played a significant role in the enjoyment of the Clifton Suspension Bridge. As part of the opening ceremony on 8th December 1864, the bridge was illuminated using state of the art electric lighting, limelight and magnesium lighting,” says Chris Booy, chair of the Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust.
“With Light The Night our intention is to create a special moment to surprise and delight the people of Bristol. Although we light the bridge every evening with our signature white LEDs, we very rarely have the opportunity to light it in colour.”
Nigel Hardy, managing partner at Smith & Williamson in Bristol, said the firm’s branding would be one of several appearing on the bridge during the special event.
He said: “As a firm we have a close association with the suspension bridge and so we are delighted to be supporting an initiative that will provide such a great visual spectacle for the people of Bristol as the city emerges from worst of the pandemic.”
The headline sponsor of the Light The Night event is Clifton College. The other corporate sponsors are AMP Electrical, Axtec, Chew Valley Construction, COWI, James Fisher Strainstall, Modular Digital and Pytch.
