First terrace sold at The Chocolate Factory

The first terrace of new homes built at The Chocolate Factory in Greenbank, Bristol has been sold with reservations now being taken on a second terrace that is due to be completed later this year.

The seven new homes are the first of 140 being created at the former Elizabeth Shaw Chocolate Factory, which lay derelict for 16 years before the regeneration to provide homes and workplaces for the local community.

The sold-out terrace forms a new section of Co-Operation Road replacing a tall blank brick wall providing new homes for the vibrant, diverse and friendly community of Greenbank within BS5.

Reservations are now being taken for Carsons Road, which is a mix of 3 and 4-bedroom houses with prices from £435,000. These houses benefit from off street parking with a charging point for an electric vehicle, a rare commodity in the area.

Generator South West are behind the redevelopment, which provides shared ownership homes through Abri. It will create offices and shops around a central public square and new access to the Bristol & Bath Railway Path, which provides a 15-minute easy cycling commute into central Bristol.

Mya Castillo, sales and marketing consultant to the project, commented: “The first phase has sold to timetable, despite issues thrown up by the pandemic, which has made it difficult for people to come to see the development.

“We now have a show apartment and a show home for people to visit and an information centre that explains how the factory, which was once the very heart of the community, will once again be a vibrant and exciting part of the local scene after years of dereliction.

“The homes we are offering at the moment are all new build but apartments will go on sale in the summer and three bedroom townhouses created from the original factory building will follow later in the year. We are keen for local independent businesses to take the commercial space and have a number of people that we are discussing the space with.”

The Visitor Centre and Marketing Suite, created in the old management offices of the chocolate firm, is open Thursday – Monday.
