Dream home for Colin and Sue

Dream home for Colin and Sue

After marrying in 2018 retirees Colin and Sue Sowden recognised the “the fulfilment of their dreams” when they saw their home-to-be in Upavon, Wiltshire, and now they are settling down to a new life after downsizing from a three-bed house in Camberley, Surrey.

New homes being created in the village are proving to be among the most sought-after in the region as a new community takes shape with a combination of great location and careful design and craftsmanship by independent house-builder Redcliffe Homes seeing homes on their Whistledown View development being snapped up as soon as they are available.

Colin said: “I’d had a hip operation a couple of years ago and it wasn’t very pleasant climbing the stairs, so Sue and I decided we wanted a two-bedroom bungalow with two bathrooms, and unfortunately there's not many being built these days.

“We know the Upavon area well. We came down in June last year and saw a for-sale board up and thought we’d love to live there. We were really excited. We sent off for information and as soon as we learned there was a property for sale that matched our specifications our names went down pretty quickly.

“We absolutely love it here. We’re so glad we passed that way and saw that sign. It was meant to be.

“We have two pubs which are within walking distance, a doctor’s surgery which is two minutes away and a village shop which seems to stock everything. We do our main shopping in Devizes about 20 minutes’ drive away.

“We’d like to give Redcliffe a recommendation. They’ve been really good all the way through and brilliant at keeping in touch.”

The Sowden’s new home has a south-facing garden which they love and are already enjoying imprinting their own vision on it.

Just two homes now remain on this 45-home development, both three-bedroom Sherstons at £377,000.
